Announcements            Updated on 28 February 2010

Next Monthly Membership Meeting

The next meeting of the Society will be held on Tuesday, May 11th 2010 at 7:30 pm.  The meeting will be held in the St. Martins Community on Main Street in St. Martins.  The program for the evening will be announced on this page before that date.  A light lunch will be served following the meeting.

Carson Library Extension Project

The construction of the library extension has been completed however, some tasks remain.  The cement floor has now been painted and bookshelving is being built. Eavestroughing will be installed, the exterior stain will be second coated and the re-landscaping will be done as funds are raised to pay for them.  We are, of course, still soliciting donations.  You can send your cheque to the  Quaco Historical & Library Society at 236 Main St., St. Martins, N.B.  E5R 1B8.  Include your address and we will send you a receipt for income tax purposes.

Winter Hours for the Library

The Carson Library will be open from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the winter months.

New Sign Donated

Our visibility on Main Street was much enhanced last week with donation of a new sign out near the curb.  For the first time, our curbside sign mentions the existence of the Carson Library.  The sign was built and donated by Darren Knox and installed by Jody and Eugene Clayton.

Library In Transition

There is an old saw about how "...before things can get better, they have to get worse." This certainly seems obvious to regular patrons of the Carson Library.  Through the winter the building was dirty and in disarray because of the construction of the extension.  The purpose of the extension is to provide more shelving space for our growing collection.  However, the shelving has not yet been built so the overflow of books remains stacked here and there throughout the original portion of the building.
