The Quaco Historical & Library Society was founded in 1971 by a small group of St. Martins residents with a keen appreciation of the area’s past and a wish to ensure that it be known to future generations. Around a kitchen table they agreed that their Society should promote an interest in the history of the Quaco-St. Martins area in New Brunswick and to create a museum and archives to preserve its artifacts and documents. They also decided to establish a general literature library to serve their community.

     The work of the Society has attracted many new members since its creation. The members are broadly dispersed across North America and many are descendants of the ship builders and seafarers who made St. Martins such a bustling and prosperous place in the nineteenth century.

Annual membership fees are $10.00 for individuals and $15.00 for a couple.

     The Society is a charitable organization that is operated entirely by its unpaid volunteers. If you would like to contribute financially to our work, you can send a cheque to the address above and we will send you a receipt for income tax purposes.
