This is a light-hearted, volunteer-run community library with an amazing
selection of popular and classic novels, non-fiction titles and reference works.
We are especially proud of our children’s section. New books and the classics
get equal shelf space.
March at the Carson Library
We have had a great gift from the funds raised at the Annual Booktown Fair - the
first seven books of The 39 Clues.
These are wonderful reading for young people. Even better, "Booktown" is
going to continue to contribute the next 32 books of this series. This is
so encouraging.
Every once in a while I find a really interesting book among the catalogs I
receive. This one is Make Do and Mend. It contains
reproductions of the official Second World War instruction leaflets. It is
absolutely fascinating (especially if you're at all familiar with the war
years). Although I was in the US and this is from the UK it still brought back
many memories (black-out curtains?).
Still in the war years, And I Was There - Pearl Harbor and Midway - Breaking
the Secrets by Rear Admiral Edwin T. Layton, U.S.N. Ret. One person
who read it said it finally made some sense of that particular time and he fully
endorsed it.
Another donation: Weight Watcher's Favorite Homestyle Recipes. I
have seldom read so many fine sounding recipes. I think I might just skip
over the "weight watcher" part of the title and enjoy the book "as is".
Our "used and new" book room will be open soon. The books will be separated by
subject/author and easily found - what a treat.
Winter hours: Monday, Thursday and Saturday,
1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
