This is a light-hearted, volunteer-run community library with an amazing
selection of popular and classic novels, non-fiction titles and reference works.
We are especially proud of our children’s section. New books and the classics
get equal shelf space.
February 2012
"What a blessing it is to love books. Everybody must
love something, and I know no objects of love that give such substantial and
unfailing returns as books or a garden." from Solitary Summer by
Elizabeth von Arnim.
Well, gardens will be coming soon but, meanwhile, we
have some winter days to put in. A newish mystery by P. D. James, The
Private Patient is a great read; and now that this one has been donated,
she has another new one coming out!
Bill Bryson has written another wonderful book -
At Home, A Short History of Private Life - a room-by-room tour of his
own home - and the history behind it. Truly fascinating reading.
Linda Greenlaw (The Lobster Chonicles)
from Maine has written another interesting mystery, Fisherman's Bend.
The background is so close to this area that it makes it really interesting.
Come and look at our used books: mysteries - 5 for
$1.00, hard covers - $1.00 each, pocket novels - 25 cents.
We are staying open on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 for students who need
access to a public computer. This was on a trial basis and we have now reverted
to staying open if notified in advance.
The library now has a Fax machine for the public to SEND faxes. The charge is
$1.00 per page in the local calling area and $2.00 per page for long distance.
Visit us at the Library (behind the Quaco Museum).
Hours: Thursday and Saturday: 1:00-4:00, Thursday
5:30-6:30 (by prior arrangement)
